Christmas House Sitting, 2015

Sorted! Whilst we still sort out what we’re doing next year we wanted to gain experience as a family travelling. I’ve written about house sitting previously, and how we’ve joined a house sitting website. Well, we’ve got our first house sitting assignment (is that what you call it?)

I don’t want to give too much away, obviously as it’s not fair to share details of someone else’s house (without their permission), but we’re heading down to the UK South-East, near Southend-on-Sea, an area we don’t know at all. Covering a family home and their pets for the Christmas period, we’re looking forward to exploring this new area, as well giving the boys experience and responsibility of looking after pets (with use overseeing them, initially).

We’ve already started planning a few days out at local attractions as well as a trip or two into London to see family and maybe a few London attractions. The is plenty to keep us busy in the immediate vicinity, like castles, parks, river walks, coastal exploring, and not to mention a few steam railways we know the boys will love (they’re both Thomas the Tank Engine fans). We will certainly not be stuck for things to do, even on rainy days (we’ll be taking a good supply of board games, DVDs, iPads, Chromecast – for Netflix and BBC iPlayer) as well as welly boots and rain coats.

We are so looking forward to this that we’ve not realised it’ll also be our first Christmas away from home and family. Hopefully we’ll see some of our family, but it’s a little further afield than home, so not everyone will be able to visit, or us to visit them. Yes, we’ve told the family about this trip, couldn’t really keep this one quiet 😉
