“Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.”
So far everything has all been about planning.
It’s about where we could go, when we can go, how long can we go for, how long can we take the boys away from school, how much money is enough, how long do we spend in each place, can we do everything we want to, etc., etc.
Have we lost the magic that got us hooked already, without even taking a single step? Every time we look at the map we get a little of it back, but it still seems so far away. We’re not able to put a time on our plans, unfortunately, as I’m sure that will help us feel the drive and magic again. We’re not able to tell everyone our plans, not only because it may not happen, but we also don’t want to worry them unnecessarily. There are people around the world we’d love to say ‘hey, guess what, we’re coming over!’, but can’t. Yet.
What we are doing is checking insurance, checking schools, checking banks and credit cards, checking house sitting websites (these are our best bet to do what we want, in the time we want, for the budget we have), checking the news, checking facts and figures, checking weather reports and patterns, checking with employers, checking EVERYTHING!
At some point, hopefully before we’ve come home, we’ll find our way again, find the magic that pulled us in, and find ourselves.
